The Arc de Triomphe is a world famous Paris landmark built as a tribute to Napoleon and the armies of France. This grandiose structure now stands out from a swirling sea of traffic beneath it's imposing arch in the world's first organised roundabout, the massive place Charles-de-Gaulle, better known as place de l'Etoile. The star (etoile) that radiates from the Arc de Triomphe is made up of twelve wide avenues, of which the Champs-Elysees must surely be the most famous.
