Istanbul Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The imperial Sultanahmet Mosque, dating from the rule of Sultan Ahmet I during the 17th century, is an integral part of Istanbul's skyline. This superlatively elegant structure is more intimately known as the Blue Mosque, and is the single mosque in the world with six minarets. Its real fame derives most from its interior that gleams with a magnificent paneling of blue and white Iznik tiles with flower and tree motifs. One of Istanbul's largest mosques, the Blue Mosque is an achievement of elegance and harmony.
Istanbul's Sultanahmet Mosque is a fantastic reason all on it's own to book one of the first rate Istanbul hotels, but while you're visiting it would be worthwhile to visit a few more Istanbul attractions.
