Edinburgh Sights, Sounds and Hotels

Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh's most famous and popular visitor attraction, was built when the city was just a tiny community which is said to have begun on the crag where the Castle sits on the Crag’s East Side. You have a fantastic view of the city and the adjacent landscape from its battlements. Evidence of human habitation on the Crag during the Bronze Age around 1,000 BC has been found by Archeologists, which makes the area one of the longest constantly inhabited locations in northern Europe. Edinburgh Castle was of tactical importance and the seat of Scotland’s Kings during Scotland's wars of independence. The castle has been besieged, destroyed but rebuilt on numerous occasions and today is the Scottish Division military headquarters. Edinburgh’s Royal Apartments, Saint Margaret's Chapel, The Crown Room, The Garrison Pet Cemetery, The Scottish National War Memorial, Mons Mar, One o'Clock Gun, The Cannonball House and Military Tattoo are a selection of the attractions and historical structures that are contained within the castle grounds.

Once you have looked at some of the superlative Edinburgh hotels, and perhaps researched a little more on Edinburgh city, then do yourself a favour and explore Edinburgh Castle.
