Budapest Sights, Sounds and Hotels

The Fishermen's Bastion used to function as Budapest's fish-market place, and was constructed as a viewing platfrom in 1905 and is so called in tribute to the guild of fishermen as they fortified Budapest against attacks during the Middle Ages. Seven gleaming turrets symbolize the seven Magyar tribes of the 9th century who came into the Carpathian Basin. Exceptional views of Buda and Pest unfurl from it's terrace, and one needs no suggestion of why this location was chosen for Budapest's defence. St. Stephen and his horse are immortalised in stone upon the Bastion, and a small medieval burial chapel, St. Michael Chapel, is found underneath the Bastion.

Have a look at some of the fine Budapest hotels and plan your trip to visit Budapest's Fishermen's Bastion and other Budapest attractions.
